More than 63% of  Revere voters backed Mohegan Sun’s $1.3 billion resort casino proposal late February on property owned by Suffolk Downs. This was the second casino vote since East Boston rejected the first proposal last November, shifting the fate of the casino to the hands of Revere residents. According to Mohegan Sun, the casino would bring $10 million in annual payments and thousands of jobs. Supporters of the casino plan see it as an economic opportunity, while opponents say the casino would bring more traffic, crime, gambling addiction, and other issues. Mohegan Sun will compete with Wynn Resorts for the sole eastern Massachusetts resort casino license. For more about the issues surrounding the casino, here is Corey Plante.
